Luminosity Glitter was born from a love of all things Notting Hill Carnival and sparkle. I’ve always been the one covering my friends in glitter, and when I saw a gap in the market for eco-friendly glitter, I knew it was time to create something special. Here’s a peek behind the brand and the journey that brought Luminosity Glitter to life.
What inspired you to start Luminosity Glitter?
My love for Notting Hill Carnival and all things sparkly was the starting point. I was always the girl covered in glitter, turning heads and spreading joy. After watching a documentary on microplastics, I realised the impact glitter could have on the environment, so I researched eco-friendly options. I saw a huge gap in the UK market for sustainable glitter, and that's how Luminosity Glitter was born.
What sets Luminosity Glitter apart from other brands?
Our attention to detail and commitment to quality. We work incredibly hard to ensure our glitters meet exceptionally high standards, whether it’s in our glitter bars or packaging. Every product is designed to give our customers the best experience, from the first sparkle to the last.
What challenges did you face when starting Luminosity Glitter, and how did you overcome them?
Being taken seriously in business has sometimes been a challenge, especially as someone who looks younger than I am. Finding the right community and navigating negativity were also hurdles in the early days. We’ve learned the importance of fiercely protecting our brand and values, ensuring everything we do reflects our mission and commitment to sustainability. Instead of letting these challenges hold us back, we’ve used them as opportunities to grow stronger, stay focused, and build a supportive network of people who believe in what we’re doing.
What does the name "Luminosity Glitter" mean to you?
Luminosity represents light and radiance - everything glitter stands for. It’s about bringing that shine into the world and embracing our own inner glow. It’s the energy of carnival, the energy of sparkle.
What advice would you give to someone starting their own business?
Stay true to yourself and your values - they are what will set you apart and connect you with your audience. Take the time to find your tribe; surrounding yourself with supportive, like-minded people is invaluable. And most importantly, protect your brand from the start. Registering trademarks and safeguarding your intellectual property might not feel exciting, but it’s absolutely essential to building a strong, secure foundation for your business.
What’s been your proudest moment since starting Luminosity Glitter?
There have been so many incredible moments, but two stand out. We were featured in National Geographic, which was a surreal experience. Another proud moment was having a whole Luminosity Glitter team glittering for Wembley Arena. As a Londoner, it was a huge achievement to see our sparkle light up such an iconic venue - it felt like a full-circle moment for our brand and our roots.
What do you hope people feel when they use Luminosity Glitter?
I hope they feel empowered, joyful, and radiant. Glitter is such a simple thing, but it can completely transform how someone feels. It’s all about embracing your sparkle and letting it shine, inside and out.
What’s next for Luminosity Glitter?
We’re just getting started! There are exciting things in the pipeline, from new sparkly products to collaborations that will help spread our message of sustainability even further. We’re incredibly grateful for the support we’ve received so far and can’t wait to continue growing with our community, inspiring everyone to shine brighter while protecting our planet.
