Luminosity Glitter won an award! 🏆

Luminosity Glitter Wins Theo Paphitis’ SBS Award

Hey sparkle lovers. It’s been a busy few weeks here at Luminosity Glitter but I thought I’d come and share with you some exciting news!

Back in February 2021 Luminosity Glitter won Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday Award (#SBS) and last week Daisy went along to the annual SBS event in Birmingham to collect the award and meet Theo himself. It’s strange how life works out. I spent many years working as cabin crew and had Theo Paphitis on a flight a few years ago, now I own a company that has his support.

What is the SBS Award?

In 2010, Theo Paphitis created Small Business Sunday which is known as the hashtag #SBS on twitter. Supporting small business’s is extremely important to Theo and he openly explains his vision that everyone who has ever won #SBS becomes part of a friendly club filled with like-minded individuals from across the country that can support each other and share their success and learnings.

The SBS network has grown to over 3,500 small businesses and the winners benefit from a retweet to Theo’s followers, marketing, access to a closed Facebook network and the chance to meet like-minded business owners. They also receive an invite to Theo’s annual small business event in Birmingham, where past speakers have included notonthehightstreet.com founder Holly Tucker, Deborah Meaden, Sir Tom Hunter, Touker Suleyman and more.

The Annual SBS Event

With the pandemic pressing pause on so many events across the globe for two years, 2022 was the first year I could attend since winning and I wasn’t sure what to expect but it was the most amazing day.
There were guest speakers including entrepreneur Touker Suleyman from Dragons Den, Debbie Lewis from Natwest and Rachel Watkyn; the founder of Tiny Box Company.
It was a day jam packed with networking with other business owners from across the country, there were breakout sessions with companies such as DHL and Autumn Fair and interactive stands run by amazing companies that love to shout about small businesses.

I met the most amazing people from all walks of life and learnt so much. If you’re a small business owner unsure about entering, make sure you do. The annual event alone is a massive mental boost for you and you're guaranteed to come away feeling full of enthusiasm and ideas.

Each week, Theo rewards small businesses that tweet him @TheoPaphitis and describe their businesses in one tweet including the all-important hashtag #SBS. Only tweets made in the time slot between 5.00 PM and 7.30 PM each Sunday count.
